Client background: Our client was a content creator and blogger who published articles regularly but struggled to promote them on social media. They were spending hours each week manually creating social media posts, writing captions, and scheduling content across multiple platforms. This process was time consuming, inconsistent, and took away from their ability to focus on creating high quality blog content. They wanted an automated solution that would extend the reach of their content without requiring constant manual effort.
The challenge: The client needed a workflow that would automatically detect when a new blog post was published, generate engaging social media captions using AI, and schedule those posts across their social media platforms. The system needed to be reliable, customizable, and able to handle multiple social networks. It also needed to maintain the client’s unique voice and brand personality.
We designed an automated workflow using Make (formerly Integromat) as the central automation platform. The workflow is triggered whenever a new blog post is published on the client’s WordPress website. The automation then extracts the post title, excerpt, featured image, and URL. This information is sent to an AI service that generates multiple social media caption variations.
The generated captions are then formatted for each social media platform, taking into account character limits, hashtag best practices, and platform specific conventions. The captions and images are then sent to a social media scheduling tool where they are queued for publication at optimal times.
We configured the AI service to generate captions that match the client’s brand voice. We provided the AI with examples of the client’s previous social media posts to train it on their style and tone. The AI is instructed to generate multiple caption variations for each blog post, giving the client options to choose from or allowing the system to select the best one automatically.
The AI is also instructed to generate relevant hashtags based on the blog post content. It analyzes the post’s topic, keywords, and category to suggest hashtags that will increase visibility and engagement. The AI avoids generic or overused hashtags and focuses on niche specific tags that are more likely to reach the target audience.
We configured the workflow to publish to multiple social media platforms including Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Each platform has its own formatting requirements and best practices. For Twitter, the captions are kept concise with a focus on engagement. For LinkedIn, the captions are more professional and detailed. For Facebook, the captions are conversational and include a clear call to action.
We also configured the workflow to handle image resizing and formatting for each platform. The featured image from the blog post is automatically resized to the optimal dimensions for each social network. This ensures that the images display correctly and look professional on every platform.
We integrated a social media scheduling tool that allows the client to set optimal posting times for each platform. The workflow queues the generated posts to be published at these optimal times, ensuring maximum visibility and engagement. The client can review the scheduled posts before they go live and make adjustments if needed.
We also configured the workflow to space out posts appropriately. Instead of publishing all social media posts at once, the system distributes them throughout the day and week. This prevents the client’s audience from being overwhelmed and increases the chances that each post will be seen.
While the workflow is largely automated, we built in a review step that allows the client to approve or edit captions before they are published. The generated captions are sent to the client via email or a notification in the scheduling tool. The client can make adjustments to ensure that the captions perfectly match their voice and message. This hybrid approach combines the efficiency of automation with the quality control of human review.
We set up analytics tracking to monitor the performance of the automated social media posts. We track metrics such as engagement rate, click through rate, and follower growth. This data allows the client to understand which types of captions and which platforms are performing best. The client can use this information to refine the AI prompts and improve the quality of future captions.
